According to the national standard (GB1356-86), corn is divided into the following categories:

The first type of yellow corn, the seed coat is yellow;

The second type of white corn, the seed coat is white;

The third type of waxy corn is sticky;

The fourth type of hybrid corn, the first three types of corn exceed the intermixing limit (5%).

According to the grain type of corn, corn can be divided into five types: hard grain type, horse tooth shape, hard partial horse type, horse partial hard type, and intermediate type. Grain types are distinguished based on: horse-toothed grains are horse-toothed, the endosperm is horny on both sides, while the middle and top are silty, hard-grained grains are round or short square, and the endosperm is full of horny; horse teeth One-half of each shape and hard-grained type is intermediate type; hard-grained type accounts for about 75% of which is called partial horse type; horse-toothed grain accounts for about 75% of which is called partial horse type.

There are many horse-tooth shapes in corn.Hard-grained,hard-partial-horse-type corn has good technical properties, high rate of raising lotus root, and good quality of lotus root and flour.
